Jay Costello, former Chief Operating Officer of Standard Chartered Bank has recently joined SunTrust as the SVP for their International Wealth Management Division. Roberto Munoz and William Schwartz, previously with Marquis Bank, have been hired by Professional Bank as EVP and Chief Lending Officer and Chief Credit Officer, respectively. Juan Esterripa has been brought on board by BankUnited as a Senior Commercial Lender. Abby Martinez, formerly with SunTrust has just arrived at Citibank as a trade finance specialist. Jorge Tefel and Elizabeth Martinez have joined the Trade Finance team at Plus Bank. Peter Phillips has just been appointed to the Board of Directors and to Chair the Audit Committee at Pacific National Bank. Phillips comes from a long and distinguished career at Lloyds Bank.

Thursday, April 15th, 2010Simon Cruz has just been appointed as new President of The Bank of Coral Gables. Simon is the former President of Plus International Bank. Bruce Kelley, previously with CitiCorp, has just arrived at Deutsche Bank where he will be a Managing Director, Portfolio Consultant. John Rodriguez, President of FIBA, has been brought on board by HSBC as the Regional Sales Manager for Latin America. John comes from Wells Fargo Bank, where he was an SVP & Division Manager in the Global Correspondent Banking division. George Harduval has joined Mercantile Commercebank as a Senior Commercial Lender. Prior to Mercantile Commercebank, he was with US Century. Dan Overbey, the previous CEO/President of Colonial Wealth Management is now with Bank United Private Wealth Management where he is the CEO/President. Joaquin Arguello is now an EVP Commercial Director at BBU Bank. He had previously been with BAC where he was the Domestic Banking Manager. Last but not least, Charles Alzati, formally of Bank of America and RBC has joined Nason & Nason as a Senior Recruiting Consultant. Charles was a Private Banker for over 25 years.

Thursday, January 21st, 2010Diane Ashely and Joe Nader have joined Coral Gables Trust. Alejandro Pereyra has been named Executive Director of Financial Institutions for Latin America at JP Morgan. Alejandro comes from Bank of America, where he was a Senior Vice President. Luiz Carlos Couto, formerly of Standard Chartered Bank, has just arrived at Bank of America Merrill Lynch to be the Senior Vice President of Global Financial Services-Latin America. Diego Polenghi has recently come to Miami as the Director of Private Clients for Standard Chartered. Pacific National Bank has brought on board Mahesh Pattabhiraman as a Senior Commercial Lender and Alexander Acosta as the Chief Credit Officer. Christian Novy was recently hired by BLADEX in their Miami office where he will be overlooking the vendor finance area. He used to be with BPD Bank where he was a Senior Correspondent Banker. Gregory Fefferman has been named a Private Wealth Advisor for Gibraltar Bank. He had formerly been with Citi Private Bank. Andy Collazo, previously with Colonial Bank, has joined TotalBank as Bank Operations Manager.

Hugo has a long and successful banking career which includes not only leadership roles but also acquiring and remolding banks in both Dade and Broward counties. Miguel Jimenez, formerly from Bank of America, has been named Senior Vice President and Manager of International Trade Services for BB & T Bank which recently acquired Colonial Bank and immediately has become a major player in South Florida. Hans Mueller left Coconut Grove Bank and joined Gibraltar Bank as their senior lender.

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Carlos Perez has moved from Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) to a similar but more prominent position at Citibank, where he is a Director and the Global Head of Correspondent Banking. Peter Fowler, a past President of FIBA and more recently running the London office of Aozora Bank (formerly The Industrial Bank of Japan) has retired and moved to the NYC area following his wife Helen’s career. Jim McGrath, former Treasurer and Board member of FIBA has moved to Uruguay as head of Standard Chartered Bank’s (formerly American Express Bank International) operations in that market. Dan Eggland will be the new president of SunState Bank (formerly Sofisa) at the beginning of the new year. Abel Iglesias has moved on to JGB Bank (formerly Eagle Bank) as EVP and part of their senior management team. Finally, Simon E. Amich, also a past President of FIBA and manager of American Express International Bank, has become Managing Director of Atlas One Financial Group.
